Allan joined the Metropolitan Police Service in 1982 and has served in many boroughs. He has spent the majority of the service with the CID and has specialised in the investigation of murders and other major crime investigations. He is responsible for all the serious crime investigations in the borough and has three detective inspectors and a team of detective and uniform officers and police support staff to assist him. He is the borough lead on all issues relating to violent crime and works in partnership with the safer Harrow Management Group
